Description	:	Frederick D. Bargen was born March 10, 1915, to Carl and Mary Grummert Bargen on a farm north of Superior. He died at the Superior Good Samaritan Center Monday, February 3, 1992, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 24 days. He was baptized April 18, 1915, and confirmed May 12, 1929, at Salem Lutheran Church where he was a life-time member. Frederick was educated in the Smyrna School through the eighth grade, graduating May 15, 1930. He was inducted into the Army at Fort Leavenworth, KS, January 24, 1942. He died at the Superior Good Samaritan Center Monday, February 3, 1992, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 24 days. He was baptized April 18, 1915, and confirmed May 12, 1929, at Salem Lutheran Church where he was a life-time member. Frederick was educated in the Smyrna School through the eighth grade, graduating May 15, 1930. He was inducted into the Army at Fort Leavenworth, KS, January 24, 1942. A Surgical Technician Third Class, he served with the 24th General Hospital during World War II in the North Africa and Italy. He received his honorable discharge October 24, 1945. Frederick farmed and lived north of Superior until retiring and moving to Superior in 1974. Because of failing health, he became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center June 6, 1991. He was a 40 year member of the American Legion an a 40-year member of the V.F.W. Survivors are four brothers, Eilert and his wife, Vernoye, Orlin and his wife, Blanche, and Leland and his wife, Lyda, all of Superior, and Alvin and his wife, Wava, of Hardy; one sister, Ruby Wilton of Superior; a sister-in-law, Theora Bargen of Hebron; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Carl Jr., and a brother-in-law, Clarence C. Wilton. Funeral services were held Friday, February 7, 1992 at 2 p.m. from the Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior, NE, with Pastor Steve Tjarks officiating. Alfred Hanson, soloist, sang "Beyond The Sunset" and "Abide With Me" and a congregational hymn of "How Great Thou Art" was sung. Virginia Drohman was organist and accompanist. Vic Bargen, Lynn Bargen, Terry Bargen, Vaughn Bargen, Steve Bargen and Dennis Wilton, nephews, were casketbearers. Military rites were given by American Legion and V.F.W. Posts of Superior. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Megrue-Price Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, February 13, 1992; pg. 2
