Description	:	Alvina Jacobitz Berndt was born in German, West Prussia, Germany, July 6, 1866, the daughter of Wilhelmina and Wilhelm Jacobitz. With her parents she came to America at the age of 16 years and settled near Kenesaw, Nebraska., as early pioneers. On May 3, 1884 she was married to Fred Berndt, also of pioneer residents in Adams Co. In the early years this couple lived on the farm near Kenesaw, later moving to Holstein, Nebraska. Read More	Alvina Jacobitz Berndt was born in German, West Prussia, Germany, July 6, 1866, the daughter of Wilhelmina and Wilhelm Jacobitz. With her parents she came to America at the age of 16 years and settled near Kenesaw, Nebraska., as early pioneers. On May 3, 1884 she was married to Fred Berndt, also of pioneer residents in Adams Co. In the early years this couple lived on the farm near Kenesaw, later moving to Holstein, Nebraska. In 1902, they moved to Minden, Nebraska., where Mr Berndt was engaged in business. Seven children were born to this union: August of Minden; Hattie, Mrs Louis Brown of Woolsey, S Dak.; Carolyn, Mrs John Werth, Minden, Nebr.; Frieda, Mrs Wm Bang, Minden, Nebr.; Lydia, Mrs Hal Alsid, Omak, Wash.; Helen, Mrs Edgar Larsen, Bellevue, Nebr.; Evelyn, Mrs Fred Ottesen, Los Angeles, Calif. Her husband died May 9, 1931. Since then she has lived in widowhood maintaining her own home until about a year ago. Mrs Berndt, mother Berndt as we affectionately called her, was decidedly a christian character. Born and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in which she took a very active part. Last summer her condition demanded special care for which she was taken to Omaha for medical attention. She passed away June 28 at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 22 days. She leaves to mourn besides her children and their families, 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends. Mother Berndt was kind, friendly and thoughtful, always concerned about the welfare of her friends and loved ones. Her memory is held in high honor and esteem among us. Funeral services were held at St Paul's Lutheran church, July 1, and burial at Minden cemetery.
