Dierks, widow of the late H. G. Dierks, passed away at the family home, 1206 North Second Street at 2 o'clock this morning after an illness of three weeks duration. Anna C. Tietjens was born September 25, 1842, at Albersdorf, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and came to this country when but thirteen years of age and to a farm west of Lyons where she resided with her parents until after the Civil War. She was married August 29, 1861 to H. G. Dierks who left the same day for service with the First Iowa Cavalry, Union Army. After being mustered out of service, Mr. Dierks returned and purchased a farm on Elvira road where the family lived for thirty one years. Born to this union were seven children, two of them having already passed away, Emma at the age of ten and John at the age of thirty six years. The family moved to Clinton in 1896 and to the present residence where they have lived ever since. Left to mourn her death are one sister, Mrs. George Rix of Lyons, besides five children, Mrs. Max Ingwersen, and Miss Emma of this city, Mrs. Edward Ingwersen of Moline, Henry W. Dierks and H. G. Dierks in Elvira Road, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at the late home at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with burial in Elvira Cemetery. The Rev. A. Hein of the Zion Lutheran Church of this city will officiate.
