Description	:	Anna Marie Gowey was the wife of Max Bales and the mother of three daughters. A few years after the death of her husband, she married Les Mayer (Mobile County, AL, Marriage Book 222, page 265) and they continued to reside in the Bales family home at 6121 Palomino Dr., Mobile, AL., from 1992 until they moved to Haleyville, Alabama after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Marie's body was cremated, in accordance with her wish, and her remains joined with those of her husband Max. Parts of the ashes were placed in various locations that were significant in Marie and Max's lives together, again as per Marie's wishes. The family plans to place a memorial marker and some ashes in the cemetery at the Friends Church in Pleasant Plain, Iowa, where Marie grew up and where she and Max were married. Many of Marie's family are buried there as well. Tombstone gives her last name Bales. [Legal name at the time of death was Mayer (IRS and Social Security records). Funeral home record and an obituary in the Tigard-Tualatin Times (& likely others) spelled her name incorrectly as Marie Bales-Myers.]
