Description	:	Anna Myrtle ("Annie") Casey was the second of nine children born to John Meredith Casey and Tabitha (Flint) Casey. Annie and both of her parents were born and lived all their lives in the area of Doddridge County and Harrison County, West Virginia. The family lived on a farm in the Greenbrier District of Doddridge County, and John Meredith Casey's occupation was listed as "Farmer" in the 1900 U.S. Census, though he was known to work as a merchant operating a country store. Read More	Anna Myrtle ("Annie") Casey was the second of nine children born to John Meredith Casey and Tabitha (Flint) Casey. Annie and both of her parents were born and lived all their lives in the area of Doddridge County and Harrison County, West Virginia. The family lived on a farm in the Greenbrier District of Doddridge County, and John Meredith Casey's occupation was listed as "Farmer" in the 1900 U.S. Census, though he was known to work as a merchant operating a country store. Annie was living at the family home when her father passed away in January 1905, leaving Tabitha Casey to support their large family alone, including 8-day-old youngest child Iva. Tabitha continued to farm, while Anna's brothers helped to support the family by working as laborers or in the local oilfields. The 1910 U.S. Census indicates that Tabitha owned the farm on which the family lived. As her brothers and sisters worked and later married, Annie continued to live with her mother on the family farm, and no occupation was attributed to Annie by the U.S. Census records. By 1930, Annie's brother Ernest Franklin Casey had become the head of household, with his own wife and children, and Tabitha and Annie lived with Ernest's family on the farm. The 1940 U.S. Census indicates that Tabitha and Annie were living with Tabitha's youngest daughter, Iva, and Iva's husband Jackson Flanigan and their two young boys, on a farm in the TenMile District of Harrison County, West Virginia. A 1940-41 City Directory for Salem, West Virginia, lists Tabitha and Jackson Flanigan on Rural Route 2, Salem, West Virginia. Tabitha Casey passed away in 1943. Anna Myrtle Casey passed away at Salem, West Virginia, on December 12, 1959. Her death was reported by her youngest sister, Iva Blanche (Casey) Flanigan. Annie was buried at the cemetery of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Doddridge County, West Virginia. She was survived by her five brothers: Nathan Lee, Pete, Guy, Ernest and Jim; and by her three sisters: Mary, Grace and Iva. amg
