Description	:	Iva Blanche (Casey) Flanigan was the daughter of John Meredith Casey and Tabitha (Flint) Casey of Zinnia, Doddridge County, West Virginia. Born on January 2, 1905, Iva lost her father only six days after she was born when he died at home of "rheumatism." Along with the new-born infant Iva Blanche, Tabitha Casey was left a single mother of eight additional children. Read More	Iva Blanche (Casey) Flanigan was the daughter of John Meredith Casey and Tabitha (Flint) Casey of Zinnia, Doddridge County, West Virginia. Born on January 2, 1905, Iva lost her father only six days after she was born when he died at home of "rheumatism." Along with the new-born infant Iva Blanche, Tabitha Casey was left a single mother of eight additional children. While Tabitha Casey worked the family farm with her younger children, the oldest boys went to work in the local oil and other industries to help support the family as Iva was growing up. Iva graduated from Salem High School in Salem, West Virginia. On June 5, 1925, Iva married Jackson L. Flanigan in Doddridge County, West Virginia. The 1930 U.S. Census indicates that Iva and Jackson Flanigan owned their own home and farm, and Jackson listed his occupation as "farmer." By 1940, the U.S. Census recorded the family living in Ten Mile District, Doddridge County, West Virginia. That Census record indicates that in 1940 the family consisted of Jackson (43), Iva (35), sons Jackson Jr. (2) and John (7), as well as Iva's widowed mother, Tabitha Casey (76), and Iva's sister, Anna Myrtle Casey (55). Iva's husband, Jackson, continue to work as a farmer on his own property. Iva remained close to her brothers and sisters in the Salem, West Virginia area, and survived all eight of her brothers and sisters. Obituary - Harbert Funeral Home Service - April 1999 IVA CASEY FLANIGAN, 94, formerly of Salem Rt. 2, Jacob's Run, died April 4, 1999, at Mariner Health Care center in Seneca, S.C. following a long illness. Mrs. Flanigan was born January 2, 1905, at Salem, a daughter of the late John and Tabitha Flint Casey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson L. Flanigan in 1948; he was the love of her life. She is survived by one son, Jackson (Jack) Flanigan, Clemson, S.C.; Clemson, S.C.; two grandsons and seven great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers; she was also preceded by one son; John C. Flanigan. Mrs. Flanigan was a Pythian Sister, a charter member of the Salem Farm Women's Club and a 74 year member of the Salem United Methodist Church. She had served as Head Matron at the Salem Industrial Home for Girls. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9PM Wednesday at the Harbert Funeral Home 289 Main St., Salem; where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 1999 at 11AM with Rev. Kathi McIntyre, pastor of the Salem United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Harbert Funeral Home Service
