Mrs. Grande had been ill for about a week but her condition was not considered serious. Rev. Ocee Johnson officiated at the services and music was by Mrs. A. Ronald McDonnell who sang "Den Store Hvide Flok" and "Under His Wing," accompanied at the organ by E. O. Overland. Pallbearers were Leonard Esp, Albert Esp, Henry Esp of Lodge Grass, Tom Hoyem, Harold Branae, and Clarence Flattum. Interment was in Mountain View. Mrs. Grande was born March 22, 1882, in Trondheim, Norway, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Torger Esp. She came to the United States and Big Timber at the age of 19 and in 1904 was married to Anton Grande here. Mr. Grande died in 1953. The Grandes resided for many years on what is now the Roger Whidden ranch east of Big Timber. They moved to Big timber in 1922. Mrs. Grande was a charter member of the big Timber Lutheran church and the Deer Creek Ladies Aid and was always active in church affairs, including the Big Timber Ladies Aid. She was widely known about the state through her work as cook at Lutheran Bible camps, first at Red Lodge, and later at Luther Lodge on the Boulder. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Gus (Alice) Beelaert of Opportunity, Wash., Mrs. Troy (Mabel) Georgeson of Harlowton, Mrs. Herbert (Thelma) Stevens and Mrs. Ben (Mae) Sanderson, both of billings; two sons, Raymond Grande of Fort Benton and Joseph Grande of Sheridan, Wyo.; a sister, Karen Lund of Trondheim, Norway, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mildred Grande of Billings; also 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
