Malvern Leader, Malvern, Iowa, Thursday, March 18, 1918, page 6 Well Known Farmer of Emerson Passes Away in Red Oak Hospital Sunday Afternoon Emerson, March 23, This community was greatly shocked last Sunday afternoon to learn of the death of Arthur Honeyman, who passed away very suddenly at the hospital in Red Oak. But a few hours previous he had been reported to be getting along nicely. The barber was in to shave him and he spoke of feeling much better and talked of going home. Shortly after he was taken suddenly worse, supposedly a clot on his circulation and in a short time had passed away. Our reader may remember Mr. Honeyman was injured on March 9 at the Bass farm northeast of town where he was getting a load of hay. He fell from the haymow across the manger, breaking several ribs near the spine. Last Thursday he was taken to the hospital as it was feared he was taking pneumonia. Later this developed into pleurisy from which he seemed to be recovering nicely when the sudden summons came. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church Tuesday afternoon, March 23, at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. F. A. Heizer, pastor of this church assisted by Rev. H. S. Mitchell, pastor of the M. E. Church, and Rev. R. V. Felt, pastor of the M. E. Church in Silver City. Arthur B. Honeyman, third son of John and Ella Honeyman, was born on the home farm one mile west of Emerson, Iowa, August 11, 1881 and died at the hospital in Red Oak on March 21, 1926, aged 46 years, 7 months, 15 days. He was converted at the early age of 15 during the Billy Sunday meetings held in Emerson and united with the Presbyterian Church, living a consistent Christian life. He was a graduate of the Emerson High School class of 1897. On January 7, 1903 he was united in marriage to Miss Edith Catherine Jones. To this union were born four daughters. He chose farming as his occupation; industry and honesty as his motto; and his many friends are willing to say how well he lived up to it. He was a cheery disposition, making the world better for his having lived in it. He leaves to mourn his early death his wife, four daughters, Blythe, Mrs. Lois Snodgrass, Ethel and May, his mother, five brothers, John, Stewart, Robert, and Warren of Emerson, and James of Villisca, one sister, Mrs Ella Pease of Shenandoah and a host of friends. We fee, "Another Friends Gone." in a whisper we say. And the list seems so long and today they will lay. The green turf above him and whisper farewell, And someone will be left in the shawdow to tell. The traits that endeared him, the things that were best, In the heart that beat there in his motionless breast.
