Pease Passes Away, Sunday a. m. Death comes suddenly almost before neighbors realized he was seriously ill. Again Niobrara is called upon to mourn the loss of a citizen we can ill afford to lose. The sudden death of Arthur R. Pease is a severe shock to this community for each and all us feel we have lost a real and true friend. Arthur Pease was a industrious and honest man who met you on common ground and without pretense. He seemed to enjoy the company and acquaintance of everyone and numbered his friends among all who knew him. He spent practically all his life here, and the overcrowded church and great banks of flowers at the last rites betokened the esteem in which he was held by all his neighbors. Death came suddenly, following a short illness of scarcely more than a week. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the whole community and the Tribune, on behalf of all its readers, takes this occasion to express to them sympathy and condolence. Arthur Pease was born at Lynxville, Wisconsin January 18, 1876 and died at Niobrara, Nebr., January 11, 1931, at the age of 54 years, 11 months and 28 days. When a boy, he moved with his parents to Niobrara where he grew to manhood. In 1901 he was united in marriage to Miss Pearl Spencer at Niobrara. In the spring of 1903 he took a homestead in Lyman County, S. D., where he resided until 1910 when he moved to Niobrara, locating on a farm west of Niobrara and residing there until he moved to town where he conducted a restaurant until he was taken seriously ill on the 2nd of January. Mr. Pease was a respected citizen of Niobrara, quiet and retiring, and honest in his business dealings and devoted to his family. He was member of the IOOF Lodge at Niobrara and also the Rebekahs. The deceased is survived by his wife and four children, Theo, Edith, Walter, Orval of Niobrara, his aged mother, Mrs. Sarah Pease of Niobrara, five brothers, Morton in Wisconsin, Nelson at Kennebec, S.D., William, Fred and George of Niobrara, one sister, Mrs. Pearl Vrooman of Venus, Nebraska, and two grandchildren besides many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday from the Methodist church, Rev. E. W. Nye conducting. The Rebekahs conducted services fro their departed member at the grave. The many beautiful floral offering were testimony of the high esteem in which Mr. Pease was held by his fellowmen. Everyone extends heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
