He died suddenly in his sleep at his home the morning of March 2, 1968 at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 20 days. He was born September 10, 1884 at Niobrara, to William H. and Sarah E. Pease, who preceded him in death as have four brothers and four sisters. He spent his entire life in this general area; began his working career as a school teacher in rural schools. At the time of his marriage on November 25, 1908 to Mary Elizabeth Mayberry, daughter of Grimes and Martha Mayberry, he was employed by the Chicago North Western Rail Road as section foreman. He then served eight years as Postmaster, then served as rural mail carrier and worked highway construction for Knox county. He was L.E. M. on the W.P.A. project, later formean at the C.C. Camp at Valentine, Nebraska after retiring from the Knox County Bridge Construction. He was a active ember of the Cemetery Board and the caretaker of the cemetery until forced to quit because of ill health. Survivors include the widow, Mary, three sons, William R. Jr., of Dallas, Oregon; Woodrow of Niobrara and Harold of Omaha; five daughters, Mrs. Sadie Cline of Niobrara; Mrs. Kenneth (Vivian) Gipson, Fortune, MO.; Mrs. Fred (Margaret) Miller, Mrs. Harold (June) Halverson, and Mrs. Charles (Phyllis) Kain, all of Seattle, Wash.; 28 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; also two brothers, Fred of Niobrara and George of San Antonio, Texas. Four children preceded him in death, two infants and two grown daughters, Mrs. Rex (Velma) Snyder and Mrs. LeRoy (Imogene) Hartje. The eight surviving children all attended their father's funeral.
