Description	:	Mrs. Sarah Ann Phillips, a resident of this vicinity for more than half a century, died Saturday morning at her home in this city. Her death resulting form old age and heart trouble. She was 60 years old. She was born in Indiana July 27, 1832 and was married to J. L. Phillips on August 1856 in Ohio. To them five children were born all of whom are deceased. She is survived by eight grandchildren. Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of Daniel Ross and Elizabeth Mason, early settlers of this vicinity and she came to Villisca in a “prairie schooner”... She was 60 years old. She was born in Indiana July 27, 1832 and was married to J. L. Phillips on August 1856 in Ohio. To them five children were born all of whom are deceased. She is survived by eight grandchildren. Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of Daniel Ross and Elizabeth Mason, early settlers of this vicinity and she came to Villisca in a “prairie schooner” with her husband in 1860. With the exception of a few years spent in Nebraska, she has resided here ver since that time. When a girl she taught school in Ohio, beginning at a salary of $1.50 per week and “boarding round” with the parents of the children whom she taught. She is the last member of her father’s family and of her own family. Mrs. Phillips was of the Christian Science faith and the funeral was conducted by the members of that belief at her home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. The singing was by the Misses Helen Bunker, E. Y. Rice, W. J. Oviatt, Ben Osborn, and E. N. Squire. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. E. E. Phillips a grandson residing at Kirwin, Kansas was here to attend the funeral.
