Services will be held at 10:30 Friday May 21, 2010 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church in rural Monticello. Rev. Jonathon Kosec will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 3 to7 Thursday May 20, 2010 at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Internment will be at the Wayne Zion Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve in April of 2007. August Herman Monk Jr. was born April 28, 1926 in Langworthy, Iowa. He was the son of August Herman and JoHanna Harms Monk Sr. August and Genevieve Soper were united in marriage September 21, 1950 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. He spent most of his life working at home on the farm. August was a prior member of the American Legion.
