Description	:	B. Irene Curry, 87, of Amsterdam died Wednesday morning January 30, 2002, in the Atwood Nursing Home at Carrollton following an extended illness. She was born January 4, 1915 in Amsterdam, daughter of the late Addison Leroy and Mae Yingling Curry. She was a member of the Amsterdam United Church and a former Amsterdam Village council member for several terms. She was a member of the Unionport Chapter #360 Order of Eastern Star. She was born January 4, 1915 in Amsterdam, daughter of the late Addison Leroy and Mae Yingling Curry. She was a member of the Amsterdam United Church and a former Amsterdam Village council member for several terms. She was a member of the Unionport Chapter #360 Order of Eastern Star. Irene donated a portion of the land at the site of the Gazebo Park in downtown Amsterdam. Irene was a graduate of McKinley High School in Canton. Her undergraduate degree was received from Miami University of Ohio. She furthered her education receiving her Master's Degree from Ohio State University at Columbus. She was a public school teacher who taught in Canton for 8 years, Amsterdam for 8 years and Carrollton for 9 years. After her retirement she traveled extensively throughout the world. Irene was and avid golfer at the Red Oaks Golf Club and bowled in several women's leagues at Garson Lanes in Amsterdam. Irene is survived by her sister, Evelyn Stribbe of Greensboro, NC; a niece and nephews, Carolyn Curry of Columbus and Amsterdam, William Sally Curry of Amsterdam, Paul and Karen Curry of Amsterdam. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gus Curry on March 20, 1979. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam with Rev. Don Ebert officiating. Burial will follow in Simmons Ridge Cemetery.
