Description	:	Beatrice "Babe" Krejci was born to Severin and Marie Tucek Krejci. She was one of 9 children. Her nickname was due to being the youngest child. I found a census document listing her middle initial as L. I originally had it as K. I think the K may have stood for her maiden name. Per Paul Griffin's memorial, her middle name was Louise. Babe married Paul Griffin on November 20th, 1936. They had one child, Paul, in 1938. Niece Jackie said Babe was kind of ornery when she was in high school. She brought in a story that was sent by Joe Kvapil, in a newsletter that he wrote at Christmas of 1975. Quoted: Now for a chuckle. During the course of the conversation at the Dew residence, Harold Lillie said "Do you remember 'The Distant Four?'" "Do I", answered Herschel. You see, Harold and Herschel graduated from the Plattsmouth, Nebraska High School in 1930. Since Joe didn't know this story, Harold began "Well, there was Beatrice Krejci, Beatrice Knoflicek, Irma Pittman and Helen Koubek. (All also graduates of 1930) They ran around together, were buddy-buddies, and inseparable, so to speak. During the study hall period, they always sat side by side and jabbered. So, the teacher who was on guard duty this particular period said to herself 'I'll put a stop to this'. She assigned a corner seat to each girl. Anybody who attended Plattsmouth High School in those days knows how large that auditorium was. That really put them far apart and thereafter, the classmates dubbed them 'The Distant Four'". All I can say is "The Chicago Seven" in the 60's had nothing on us; we had our "Distant Four" in the 30's. Paul and Babe lived in Plaquemine, Louisiana for many years. They were living there when Babe passed away. Per her wishes, she was brought back to Plattsmouth to be buried near her family.
