She worked in an exclusive or upscale clothing store in downtown Omaha named McGuires or MaGuires. She did mostly tailoring of clothing (seamstress). She also helped family members sew clothing for their children. Merge was a communicant of The Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth, a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women and Catholic Daughters.
