Casketbearers were Merlyn Lewis, William Vocke, Carl Kucera, Harold Johnson, Terry Connick, Lou Vaughn Allen. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday, March 19 from 1 until 9 pm. at the Loup City Memorial Funeral Home. Bessie Alice was born July 1, 1897 on a farm near Loup City, to John Nelson and Minnie Mae (Ware) Fisher. At the age of 12, she moved with her parents to Loup City. She attended Loup City High School and was graduated in 1915. She taught school in rural districts in Sherman County. She married Lewis Adams at Broken Bow on July 6, 1919. They started their married life on a farm in Custer County and remained there for three years. They later moved to Sherman County where they farmed until they retired and moved to Litchfield in 1960. They moved to Rose Lane Home in Loup City in 1984. Lewis died June 17, 1988. She continued to live at Rose Lane until her death. She joined the Methodist Church in Loup City in 1913. In 1959, she transferred her membership to the Methodist Church in Litchfield. She was a member of the United Methodist Church for over 75 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and had been an active member until being placed on the honor roll in 1980. She had been a member of the Clear Creek Extension Cub, a member of the OES of Mason City #287, where she was a Past Matron. Survivors include her two daughters, Jean Quadhamer, and Darlene Fuerstenau, both of Kearney, one son, Dale Adams of Pasadena, Tex.; a son-in-law, Harold Wozney of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Lucille Steele of Loup City and Ferne Watkins of Yakima, Wash.; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Patricia L.; brothers, Nelson and John Archie; one sister, Inez Bly; and two great grandchildren, Lori and Ricky. Loup City Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
