Description	:	Mrs. Bessie Violet Bennett, 79, of Club Knoll Road, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. Bessie was born in Surry County on Dec. 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Vester and Emma Goins Noah. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Bessie retired from Sara Lee Corporation with more than 35 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Alfred Lee Bennett Sr., two sisters, Essie Marshall and Alice Smith; and four brothers, Roy, Barney, Herbert and James Noah. Surviving are a daughter, Jane Whittington (Mark) of Winston-Salem; two sons, Alfred L. Bennett Jr. of the home and Dennis R. Bennett (Kathy) of Rural Hall; two granddaughters, Laura Overcash (Darren) of Winston-Salem and Sherri Bennett of Rural Hall; a sister, Frances Randall (Leo) of Winston-Salem; a brother, Matthew Noah (Mary Ann) of Rural Hall; and a special niece who helped Bessie with her care, Glenda Sloan of Walkertown. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with the Rev. Tommy Holder officiating. Burial will follow in Sulpher Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Pilot Mountain. The Bennett family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Feb. 25, at the funeral home.
