Surviving besides Mrs. Minger are one girl, Mrs. Fay (Charlotte) Baril, Paris. ______; two brothers, Harold and ___________ Guttenberg; one sister, Mrs. Herman (Rita) Christofferson, Postville, and nephews and nieces. Before the church service, Masonic Services were held at the __________ Funeral Home at 8 p.m. __________ Minger was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Masonic Lodge Company, the Eastern Star and the El Kahir Shrine at Cedar Rapids. Pallbearers at the services were _ E. Meder, L. W. Abel, L. ______ll, H. F. Ihm, T. B. Ross and Ernest Smith. ________ Minger was buttermaker and manager for the White Lily Creamery in Guttenberg. +++ 1984 History of Clayton County, Iowa, page 516 Byron and Roma Bittner Minger Byron Russell Minger (Barney) was born in 1903, the son of Frank and Fannie Patrick Minger. He was fourth of the six children born to Frank and Fannie. His twin brother died at birth. He attended the country school in the Turkey River area until the family moved to Guttenberg in 1914. He then attended the Guttenberg schools and graduated from the high school in 1922. He went to Ames to learn the dairy trade. He became a buttermaker and worked at that trade most of his adult life, mostly at the White Lily Creamery at Guttenberg. He married Roma Bittner in 1928. Roma was born in 1908 at Superior, Wis., the daughter of Realto Bittner and Augusta Anderson Bittner. Roma lived in Superior until 1924 when the family moved to a farm in Jefferson Twp. She attended the Guttenberg High School and graduated in 1927. Roma and Byron Minger are the parents of one daughter, Charlotte Rita born in 1929. Charlotte spent her childhood in Guttenberg, graduating from high school in 1946. She attended the University of Dubuque for two years, then married Fay L. Baril, a native of Sheridan, Mont. She met Fay in Denver and he is now retired from the Air Force after 30 years as an air force officer. They are living in Winter Park, Fla. Byron died in June of 1962 and is buried in the Guttenberg City Cemetery. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, El Kahir Shrine, The Pioneer Buttermakers Association and at times many other organizations, Rotary, School Board, town council, and the commercial club. Roma is a member of the Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and the Literary Club, at the present time. After her husband's death in 1962 she worked as a bookkeeper at the Guttenberg TV Cable Office. Retired in 1980.
