She departed this life on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the Hastings Good Samaritan Center, Perkins Pavilion in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 88 years. Ruth was united in marriage to Dale Woodhead on January 8, 1944 at Mankato, KS. This union was blessed with the birth of two children a son and a daughter. Dale was inducted into the United States Navy, Ruth accompanied him to Norfolk, Virginia and worked at JC Penney until his discharge. Over the years Ruth had worked at the Edgar Cafe, Powell's Grocery Store for 8 years, Edgar Lumber for 8 years, ran a day care and Theda's Variety Store all in Edgar, Nebraska. Ruth had worked on the Election Board and Blood Mobile many times. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, A Girl Scout leader and charter member of the MNO Extension Club. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale on March 1, 1996, brothers Robert, James, Donald and Gordon and sister Lydia Harnett; sister in law Vera McLaughlin, Florence Fichtner, Doris Woodhead, Waneta Watts, brother in laws: Dudley Harnett, Wilson McLaughlin, Herbert Fichtner, Earl Woodhead and Elmo Jordan. Survivors are: daughter Carol Ivey and husband Ron of Oxford, NE; son Norman Woodhead and wife Julie of Hastings, NE grandchildren Jennie Kreifels of Fremont, NE; Seth Ivey and wife Leigh of Oxford, NE; Hannah Quinn and husband Alex of Hastings, NE and Levi Woodhead of Lincoln, NE; great grandchildren: Wyatt, Lauryn, Sidney, Zane and Kendal Caroline; sister-in-laws Velda Watts and Inez Watts of Edgar, NE; Wilma Watts of Fairfield, NE and Myrna Jordan of Fort Collins, CO, nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Interment was in the Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, NE.
