He departed this life on Thursday, March 28, 2002, at Rosebrook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years. He attended Antioch rural school near Deweese, Nebraska. Read More	Gordon T. Watts, son of Charles and Grace F. (Horton) Watts, was born September 2, 1920, on the family farm near Edgar, Nebraska, in Clay County. He departed this life on Thursday, March 28, 2002, at Rosebrook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years. He attended Antioch rural school near Deweese, Nebraska. Gordon farmed until drafted into the U.S. Army in June of 1942. He served his country in the European Theatre of Operations, landing on Normandy Beach and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and in the Hurrican Forest. He earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medals. He was honorably discharged on November 19, 1945. In December of 1945 Gordon returned to the family farm. March 31, 1946, he was united in marriage to Waneta Woodhead at Mankato, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of one son, Charles. They farmed together near Deweese for more than 56 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles in both in Hastings, and the American Legion at Fairfield. Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, Robert and James. Survivors include his wife, Waneta Watts of Edgar; one son, Charles Watts and his wife, Ann, of Edgar; two sisters, Lydia Harnett and Ruth Woodhead, both of Edgar, one brother, Donald Watts of Fairfield; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar, Nebraska, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sturdy officiating. Burial with military rites by Ft.
