She departed this life on Friday, January 25, 2008 at her home in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 82 year and 26 days. Lydia grew up in the Edgar, Nebraska area attending Edgar schools and graduating from Edgar High School with the class of 1943. She departed this life on Friday, January 25, 2008 at her home in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 82 year and 26 days. Lydia grew up in the Edgar, Nebraska area attending Edgar schools and graduating from Edgar High School with the class of 1943. On January 24, 1946 Lydia was united in marriage to Dudley John Harnett at Mankato, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of one daughter Sally. Lydia and Dudley lived on a farm in Clay County until 1969 when they moved in Edgar. After high school graduation Lydia worked at the Edgar Grocery Store until 1969. She then was employed by Sandy Creek High School as a cook for over 25 years retiring in 1994. In her spare time Lydia enjoyed taking care of her lawn, gardening and was an avid bird watcher. Lydia was a charter member of the Red Hats and looked forward to their gatherings. Lydia always enjoyed visiting with people and had a smile for everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Gordon, Don, Robert and James. Survivors include her daughter Sally Harnett of Hastings, NE; sister Ruth Woodhead of Hastings, NE; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held this Wednesday 2:00 p.m. January 30, 2008 at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar, NE. Pastor David King will be officiating. Burial will be held in the Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, NE. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the Edgar Rescue Squad.
