Description	:	Her father was 42 and her mother was 31 when Catharine was born the 10th of 15 children. Her mother was her father's second wife. Six years before her birth her parents had migrated from Virginia to the Auglaize Co., Ohio area (it was part of Allen Co., at that time) to farm on more fertile and level land. Six years before her birth her parents had migrated from Virginia to the Auglaize Co., Ohio area (it was part of Allen Co., at that time) to farm on more fertile and level land. Chief Blackhoof of the Shawnee Tribe had only recently died and the region vacated by the Shawnee in 1832 when they re-established to a reservation in Kansas. The land was seen as an opportunity for growing settlements. On April 26, 1863 when she was 22 Catharine married Alfred Rogers. Alfred's father John Rogers had laid out and platted the village of Saint John's. Both John Rogers, and John Morris arrived in the area about the same time, and their farms were in adjoining sections. Catharine's father was elected the first Justice of the Peace and she and Alfred had known each other well all their lives. Her oldest sister Nancy had married Alfred's oldest brother Elza, and after Nancy died, Elza married yet another sister Lucy. Catharine and Alfred established their home on a farm in the same small village of Saint John's. Their oldest son George and daughter Ida died in infancy, but over the next nine years they had five more children including Stella, Laura, Wib, Ellis and Carrie. Sadly, Catharine died six days after Carrie was born. She was only 34 years old.
