Description	:	Beer, Catherine, daughter of Daniel and Rachel (Kauffman) Beer, was born at Shanesville, Ohio, Jan. 19, 1892; died in a hospital in Oregon City, Oreg., Aug. 26, 1954; aged 62 y. 7 m. 7 d. She became a Christian in her youth and at the time of her death was a member of the East Union Mennonite Church, Kalona, Iowa. Read More	Beer, Catherine, daughter of Daniel and Rachel (Kauffman) Beer, was born at Shanesville, Ohio, Jan. 19, 1892; died in a hospital in Oregon City, Oreg., Aug. 26, 1954; aged 62 y. 7 m. 7 d. She became a Christian in her youth and at the time of her death was a member of the East Union Mennonite Church, Kalona, Iowa. About 7 years ago she went to Oregon and lived in the home of her uncle, Al Beer, until June 14, 1954, when she had a severe stroke. She was taken to the hospital and for a time remained unconscious, and although she rallied at times, she never regained her faculties of speech. She leaves to mourn her departure one brother (Noah, Sparks, Ga.), one sister (Mrs. Anna Reber, What Cheer, Iowa), and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Canby, Oreg., Aug. 28, after which the body was sent to Iowa for burial Funeral services were held at the Lower Deer Creek Church, Kalona, Iowa, Aug. 21, 1954, in charge of Geo. S. Miller, Eli Yutzy, and Elmer G. Swartzendruber. Gospel Herald - Volume XLVII , Number 39 - September 28, 1954--- page 934, 935 ______________________ Funeral services for Miss Catherine Beer of Needy, who died in an Oregon City Hospital last Thursday as a result of a stroke, were held Saturday at Canby. The body was shipped to Wellman, Iowa, for burial. Miss Beer was born January 19, 1892, at Barrs Mills, Ohio. She lived at Barlow, N.D., and later at Needy. Most of her adult life was spent at Wellman. She was a lifelong member of the Mennonite church. Survivors include one brother, Noah Beer, Adel, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Anna Reber, What Cheers, Iowa; five nieces, Mrs. Maxine Peiffer, Miss Mabel Reber, Miss Anna Reber, Mrs. Leonard Hardin, Mrs. Donald Blum; three nephews, Howard, LeRoy and John Reber, all of Iowa.
