Description	:	Beer. --- Daniel D., son of Daniel and Catherine (Hoffstettler) Beer, was born near Bern, Switzerland, Oct. 23, 1864; passed away at his home in Wellman, Iowa, after a lingering illness, Jan. 7, 1945; aged 80 y. 2 m. 14 d. In 1887 he was united in marriage to Rachel Kauffman at Hubbard, Oreg. She departed this life May 26, 1913. He is survived by one son and 2 daughters (Noah D., of Wellman; Catherine, at home; and Anna Mrs. John H. Reber, What Cheer, Iowa), one brother (Albert, Canby, Oreg.), 8 grandchildren, and many friends. When he was about... In 1887 he was united in marriage to Rachel Kauffman at Hubbard, Oreg. She departed this life May 26, 1913. He is survived by one son and 2 daughters (Noah D., of Wellman; Catherine, at home; and Anna Mrs. John H. Reber, What Cheer, Iowa), one brother (Albert, Canby, Oreg.), 8 grandchildren, and many friends. When he was about four years old his parents came to America and settled around Walnut Creek, Ohio. There he united with the Old Order Mennonite Church. In 1886 he moved to Hubbard, Oreg., but three years later came back to Barrs Mills, Ohio. In 1896 he moved to Barlow, N. Dak., where he lived until 1916, with the exception of two years (1902-1904) when he returned to Hubbard, Oreg. In 1916 he moved to Wellman and Kalona, Iowa, where he lived until his death. He was received by letter into the East Union Church in 1918. He was well acquainted in many communities and was successful in farming wherever he lived. Funeral services were held Jan. 9 at the home and Lower Deer Church, in charge of George S. Miller and Nelson Kauffman. Burial was made in the Lower Deer Creek Cemetery.
