His residence had been in the vicinity of Logan for 32 years. About nine years of his life was spent in Lincoln, Nebraska. He has... Read More	Obituary Charles A. Strauss was born December 1st 1853 at Harrisburg, PA, and departed this life December 6th 1927, at his home in Logan, being aged 74 years and six days. His residence had been in the vicinity of Logan for 32 years. About nine years of his life was spent in Lincoln, Nebraska. On December 16, 1877 he was married to his faithful companion, who survives him in sorrow. He became a member of the Church of Christ about 32 years ago, before moving from Missouri Valley to Logan. He has often told how he came when about ten years old with his parents to a homestead in Iowa, settling in "Six Mile Grove" which was then native timber. The trip was made from Missouri in an ox cart dangerously loaded (several unreadable words). These were the days when a man's house was his factory and the lives of men were rich in experience which we in this age will never again know. Nine children were born to the family, four are dead, they are; Carrie, Flossie, Nora and Pearl. He leaves to mourn their loss, his devoted wife who sat through the long weary hours of his sickness, five children, Mrs. Mabel Sells of Omaha, Orie H. Strauss, Council Bluffs, Mrs. Ruth Cowan, Luton, Iowa; Frank Strauss, Los Angeles, California; nineteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Tripp of Logan, Mrs. Marsh Heath of Persia, and one brother, Arlan Strauss of Plymouth, Idaho. His friends are numerous and sorrow deeply with his loved ones. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at Logan from the Christian Church, Rev. L.L. Chamness officiating and burial was made in the Rose Hill cemetery at Missouri Valley.
