March was born on March 7, 1931, to Charlie Cleveland Kiser and Mary Young Kiser. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, LaVerne Spencer Kiser. March was born on March 7, 1931, to Charlie Cleveland Kiser and Mary Young Kiser. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, LaVerne Spencer Kiser. He is survived by two daughters, Rachel Kiser of Elk Creek, and one son, Charles William Kiser, and wife Melissa of Salem. Grandchildren include Mary Alex Phetterplace and husband Will of Newport, North Carolina, Blake Brown and fiancé Jasmine Brannon of Wytheville, Will Kiser of Salem, Tyler Brown and wife Stephanie of Elk Creek, and Shannon Brown and wife Naomi of Killleen, TX. Six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was most proud of the fact that he was enlisted in the Army and served as Military Police at Sandia Base, New Mexico, and at Killeen Base, Texas, during the Korean War. A graveside service will be held in the Haw Orchard Cemetery on Friday, June 18, at 2:00 p.m. with Jack Rutherford, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rugby Rescue Squad. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence is in charge of arrangements.
