Description	:	Clarence Wanek Minden -- Clarence E. Wanek, 79, former Loup City resident living in Minden, died Tuesday at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. John Minert officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery near Loup City at 2:30 p.m. Mr. Wanek was born Jan. 20, 1895, at Milligan. He was a former manager of Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Loup City. John Minert officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery near Loup City at 2:30 p.m. Mr. Wanek was born Jan. 20, 1895, at Milligan. He was a former manager of Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Loup City. He transferred to Minden in 1935 and served as manager until retiring in 1960. Mr. Wanek was a vetern [sic] of World War I. During his time in the service he played the clarinet in Sousa's Navy Band. Active in community affairs, he served as conductor of city bands in both Loup City and Minden. He was past president of Rotary Clubs in Minden and Loup City and was commander of American Legion Post No. 94 of Minden. A past member of the Minden Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Wanek was the civil defense director for Minden and Kearney County at the time of his death. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Minden. Survivors include his wife, Lois; two sons, Frederick E. of Grant and James E. of Greeley, Colo.; one brother, Dr. Fred Wanek of North Platte, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
