Emily Clara, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Anton E. Wanek, was born Febr. 23, 1901 at Milligan. Her childhood was spent in Ashton where her father had his medical practice. They later moved to Loup City and she graduated from the Loup City High School in 1918. She attended the University of Nebraska School of Fine Arts, graduating in 1922. She was a member of the honorary musical fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota. On Nov. 10, 1923 she was united in marriage to Dr. Carl G. Amick who was in practice here with her father. To them were born three children: Janet (Mrs. Dick Charlton), Ellen (Mrs. Jack Charlton), and Frank, now a doctor at Wothington, Minn. She was a piano teacher here for many years and a member of the Eastern Star, P.E.O., the Hospital Auxiliary, Presbyterian church and enjoyed as hobbies, painting, her music and working with flowers at her home. She and Dr. Amick had traveled extensively since his retirement in 1954, visiting Europe, Asia and many places in the U.S. In addition to her husband and three children, she is survived by 13 grandchildren; and two brothers, Clarence E. Wanek and Mrs. Wanek of Minden, and Dr. Fred Wanek and Mrs. Wanek of North Platte. She is preceded in death by her parents.
