Description	:	DR. A. E. WANEK PASSES ON Dr. Amos E. Wanek passed away at his home, Loup City, Nebr., Thursday, June 15, 1944, at the age of 74 years. He was born in 1870 at Baltimore, Md., a short time after his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Wanek, came to America from Czechoslovakia. Later on the family came west and settled on a farm near Wilber. Dr. Wanek received his education in the Wilber schools and as a youth worked in the Ed Wehn drug store at Wilber. He was born in 1870 at Baltimore, Md., a short time after his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Wanek, came to America from Czechoslovakia. Later on the family came west and settled on a farm near Wilber. Dr. Wanek received his education in the Wilber schools and as a youth worked in the Ed Wehn drug store at Wilber. Later he owned and operated a drug store at Milligan. He studied medicine and received his Doctors degree from Creighton University. He practiced medicine a few years in Ashton, Nebr., and later moved to Loup City. In 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss Vlasta Jelinek, of Crete, sister of our townsman, H. V. Jelinek. Four children were born to this union. One daughter died in infancy. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Clarence of Minden and Dr. Frank Wanek of North Platte, and one daughter, Mrs. Carl Amick , Loup City. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Chab, Mrs. John Homolka and Mrs. Antonia Mares all of Wilber; and one brother, Rudolph Wanek of Western. Dr. Wanek was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Wanek, Sr., and two brothers, Joseph and Frank. Funeral services were held at Loup City Sunday, June 18. Ritual rites were conducted by the Masonic lodge of that city, of which he was a member for 51 years. Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Jelinek and Mrs. Antonia Mares of Wilber attended the funeral.
