Read More	KILLED IN ACCIDENT EARLY WEDNESDAY Prominent Asbury Business Man Hit By Truck REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN UNAVOIDABLE Mr. Cope Sterling, of the Asbury section, was fatally injured Wednesday morning while riding his bicycle down to work, when he was hit by a truck driven by Franklin Lowe. The accident occurred on Main street, in the lower section of the city, at about six o'clock, before daylight, and apparently was unavoidable. It seems that there was a slight fog at the time, and that young Lowe was blinded by the lights from a car approaching from the opposite direction, and he was almost on top of Mr. Sterling's bicycle before he saw it. He swerved the truck, and the front end of it missed Mr. Sterling, but the rear end slewed around and hit him, knocking him to the roadway. Special policeman George Daugherty happened to be standing almost at the scene of the accident, and he, with officer Charles Pike, picked Mr. Sterling up, placed him in a car, and rushed him to the McCready hospital. Mr. Sterling was given immediate medical attention, but his hurts were so severe that he died in about four hours from the time he was hit. Mr. Sterling came from one of the oldest families in this section, and was engaged in the oyster business here. He was well-known and highly esteemed, and had a host of friends both in Crisfield and Asbury. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Clara Sterling, and three children, Mrs. Vesta Dorman, Miss Lourae Sterling, and Leon Sterling, and one step-child, Earl Mears; two sisters, Mrs. James H. Cullen and Mrs. Maria Mears, and two brothers, Hoblitzell and Littleton T. Sterling. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2.00 o'clock in Asbury M. E. Church, with the pastor, Rev. J. T. Rowlenson, officiating. Interment will be made in Asbury cemetery. The "Times" extends its sincere sympathy to the ones bereaved by this tragic death.
