Cullen Passed Away After Short Illness Funeral Will Be Held This Friday Morning Mrs. Arintha Jane Cullen, one of the community's best known and loved residents, died at the McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield Tuesday evening, after an illness of only a few days. Mrs. Cullen was 83 years of age, and was the daughter of the late John H. and Mary T. Sterling, who were among the prominent older families of lower somerset. She was born and raised in Asbury, and lived there all her life and raised her family there. Her husband, James H. Cullen, one of the county's leading public men, died in a Baltimore hospital on June 12th, 1943. She was a woman of more than usual energy, and even her advanced years did not deter her from performing most of her usual household tasks. Fond of the outdoors, she usually had a fine garden of vegetables and flowers in which she spent much time. A woman of unusual personality, Mrs. Cullen was admired and respected by everyone who came to know her during her many years. While she was essentially of the family type, in her younger years she had been active in community affairs and her advice and assistance were eagerly sought in making and carrying out plans which helped build and make better the community. For a great many years she had been a member of Asbury Methodist Church and enjoyed the religious and social life the, added in its undertakings and helped with its services. Funeral services will be held at the Lawson & Hubbard Funeral Home this Friday morning at 11:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Hugh V. Clary, Rector of St. Paul's P. e. Church and Rev. J. T. Rowlenson, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church. Interment will be Asbury cemetery. Pallbearers will be M. B. Thawley, Wm. S. Sterling, Arlie G. Sterling, Warren F. Sterling, Joseph H. Pinto and W. M. Wooster. Mrs. Cullen is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mayne A. Collins, of this city, Mrs. E. W. Lawson, of the Quantico Marine Base, and Mrs. Clifford O. Henry, of Canandaigua, N. Y.
