Read More	BODY OF MISSING ASBURY MAN FOUND Hoblitzel Sterling Had Been Missing More than A Week Inquest Brings Drowning Verdict Missing for more than a week, the body of an old resident of Asbury, Hoblitzel Sterling, was found in the marsh near Fox Island, Pocomoke Sound, Tuesday morning and brought to Crisfield, where an inquest was held, the verdict of the jury being that he had come to his death by drowning. Some days ago Mr. Sterling sailed from Apes Hole creek in his boat, to go fishing his neighbors thought. When he didn't return home that night and was absent the next day also, fear was felt for his safety, as Mr. Sterling was 79 years of age. Organized searching parties endeavored to locate him, but failed. Tuesday morning as William Ward and Harold Wilson were fishing in Pocomoke Sound they noticed a boat aground in the marsh. Investigating, they found the boat was Captain Hob's and nearby was the Captain's body. The body was lying on the bank, the Captain's hat, was nearby, as were his boots, which he had removed, and the body was partly wrapped in the boat's sail, giving the impression that Captain Hob had reached the shore, evidently wet and exhausted, had tried to wrap himself in the boat's sail for warmth and protection, but had swallowed so much sea water it resulted in his death. For a great many years Captain Hob has been a most likable citizen and had many friends in the community who always welcomed his appearance among them, and enjoyed the quaint language and dry humor with which he conversed with them. He was a descendant of the Sterling family, which was among the first families of settlers in lower Somerset county and was the son of the late John and Mary Sterling. Funeral services were held from Lawson's Funeral Home at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. J. T. Rowlenson and Rev. H. D. Dukes. Interment was in the family cemetery in Asbury. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Jane Cullen and Mrs. Gordon Mears and one brother, Littleton Sterling.
