Deming, of Cedar township, departed this life at the Yocom hospital in Chariton on Wednesday, September 22, 1937, at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 12 days, after a lingering illness. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Paul H. Hicks, of the Chariton Methodist church, were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home Friday afternoon at two o'clock, and burial was in the Bethel cemetery. Cynthia Amelia Wyatt, daughter of Edward M. and Isabella G. Wyatt, was born in Marshall county, Iowa, on April 10, 1877, and was the youngest in a family of eight children. She graduated from the Marshalltown high school in 1896 and later taught school in Marshall county. While attending school she united with the Congregational church in Marshalltown. On November 15, 1899, she was married to Sterling Stanley Deming, who passed away in 1930. To this union eleven children were born. A daughter, Mildred, and a son, Harry, preceded her in death. Most of her life was spent in Marshall county until the spring of 1918, when the family moved to a farm in Lucas county, where she had since resided. Her life has been devoted to her family. She was a loyal wife, carrying the burden of family affairs during many years of her husband's ill health. She had a cheerful disposition and her spirit did not waver through her sufferings in her last illness. She leaves behind an example of courage and fortitude in the face of trials that will ever be remembered by the loved ones she leaves behind. Those left to mourn her death are her children, Wyatt Deming, Morristown, Minn.; Sterling Deming, Waseca, Minn.; Mrs. Beulah Rouse, Milwaukee, Wis.; John Deming, of near Russell; Bertha Deming, Chariton; and Merle, Willard, Sara and Vera Deming, at home. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. F. J. Paine, Rochester, Minn., and Mrs. C. C. Crary, Santa Ana Calif.; one brother, Charles Wyatt, Des Moines; ten grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
