R. BURNS. Cynthia H. BALL, daughter of Joseph and Margaret (LANGFITT) BALL, was born in New Cumberland, West Virginia, Mar. 16, 1838; died Mar. 31, 1924. Married Gilbert KIRKPATRICK Sept. 1, 1863; who died one year later. Married, Nov. 17, 1868, A. R. BURNS of Pittsburgh, Penn. He died Dec. 22, 1917. She leaves one daughter, Margaret, at home, one son, Robert and wife and little granddaughter, Roberta. She was the last of a notable family in Jefferson County.... (Sic. referring to the children of Joseph and Margaret BALL) Their other children -- Sarah Ann FREEMAN, Martha Jane BURNS, Hannah Amanda STEVER, Cynthia Coultier BURNS, Anna Harrison LEWIS, John Franklin BALL, who enlisted in the fall of 1861, Co. B., 19th Iowa Infantry, and lost his life a Prairie Grove, Ark., William Clay BALL, George Washington BALL, and Mary SPEILMAN.... (Note: Cynthia BALL was one of the contestants for the prize in female equestrianism at the First Iowa State Fair.... A. AXLINE, Mr. Alex. R. BURNS, of Alleghany county, Penn., and Mrs. Cynthia H. KIRKPATRICK, of Jefferson county, Iowa. The happy groom came "away out West," and wooed and won a treasure. The rule is to go East and win a bride, but our friend BURNS has a true appreciation of the products of Iowa. May he realize his fondest anticipations.
