John Laur officiating. Burial was made in the Edgar cemetery (sic). Della May Mills, daughter of Mary Margaret and Alvin R. Downing, was born on a farm north of Nelson, Nebr., July 14, 1873, and spent her early years in a sod house there. She passed away at her home in Edgar, Nebr., Jan. 20, 1959, at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 6 days. Mrs. Mills attended country grade school at Blaine Center, Nelson high school and the State Normal at Peru, Nebr., later teaching school in Arkansas and Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Charles H. Mills, June 6, 1894, in Weiner, Arkansas. They made their home in and around Angus, Nebr., until 1910 when they moved to their home place four miles southwest of Edgar, moving to Edgar in 1943. Surviving her are her son, Harry, and his wife of Edgar, two daughters, Rita Jacobsen and husband of Shafter, Calif., and Lela Heisey and husband of Carleton, Nebr., and a daughter-in-law, Opha Mills of Edgar. Her husband and son, Carl, and great grandson, Carl Warren Mills, preceded her in death. Nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a sister, Jessie De Good of Weiner, Ark., also survive. Three brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. Mills was a member of the Methodist church (sic) of Edgar, of the Naomi Circle of the Women's Society of Christian Service, the Edgar Woman's Club, the Homemakers Club, the Birthday Club and an honorary member of the Royal Neighbors of America. The service music was provided by Mary Anna Gunn and Lavina Beck, with Mrs. Celia Merrill at the organ. The casketbearers were Durward Jackson, Arthur Fuhrer, Floyd Kollman, Max Coxbill, Clark Kinnison, Ray Milegar, Wendell Lee and Glenn Skinner.
