GRABAU DIES HERE SATURDAY PROMINENT PIONEER RESIDENT PASSES AWAY HAD BEEN ILL BUT FEW DAYS BEFORE DEATH The Funeral Services Will Be Held Tuesday Afternoon From the Home of His Son and at 2:00 O'Clock from the German Lutheran Church At 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon, September the 19th at the home of his son, John, on Benton Street, in this city occurred the death of Dietrich Grabau, one of the oldest and highly esteemed residents of the city, after an illness of a week's duration. The funeral services will be held from the house at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and from the German Lutheran Church at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Otto Erbe. The remains will be interred in Linwood Cemetery. Deceased was a native of Germany, born in Ostersode, Hanover, September 25, 1822 and was almost 86 years of age at the time of his death. He was married to Adelheid Hasstedt of Kolheim in 1847. They came to Boone in 1881 and made this city their home. In 1882 Mrs. Grabau died and since then Grandfather Grabau made his home with his son, John at 1727 Benton Street. To Mr. and Mrs. Grabau ten children were born, three of whom have preceded him in death. He is survived by five sons, Claus, John, Henry, Dietrich, Herman; two daughters, Mrs. John Schroeder and Mrs. John Ruschmeyer, all of Boone; thirty-seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Dietrich Grabau was a lifelong and devoted member of the Lutheran church and died with the confession of his Savior on his lips.
