Description	:	Donald W Meyer, the son of Henry J. and Ola (DeMilt) Meyer, was born on a farm south of Nelson, Nebraska on September 14, 1923. He passed away on January 3, 2012 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 3 months, 19 days. Don attended country school thru the 8th grade and graduated from Nelson High School in 1942. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and served aboard the USS Lesuth in the Pacific. Read More	Donald W Meyer, the son of Henry J. and Ola (DeMilt) Meyer, was born on a farm south of Nelson, Nebraska on September 14, 1923. He passed away on January 3, 2012 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 3 months, 19 days. Don attended country school thru the 8th grade and graduated from Nelson High School in 1942. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and served aboard the USS Lesuth in the Pacific. He was united in marriage to Esther Harvey on February 1, 1945 at Mankato, Kansas; and was honorably discharged from the Navy in December of 1945. He worked at various jobs in Lincoln, Nebraska; Schuyler, Nebraska; and Hebron, Nebraska before starting his own auto repair shop in Superior, Nebraska. One daughter Tricia Ann was born in 1958. Don was an active member of the Superior Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the rural Fire Department, American Legion, Veteran of WWII, Civil Defense Director; he was an 88 (sic) year member of the Superior School Board, serving as President for 1 year. He also served as a deacon at the Presbyterian Church. Don owned and operated R & M Body Shop for 48 years; and also did part time police work for the City of Superior for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Alfred, Ralph and Harlan and sisters Mildred Zimmerman, Marjorie Fisher and Norma Osborn. Survivors include his wife Esther of Superior, Nebraska; and daughter Tricia Cayette and husband Arthur of Lincoln, Nebraska; two grandsons Dustin and Ethan Rymph; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Coleman officiating. Pallbearers were members of the Superior Volunteer Fire Department. Interment with Full Military Rites was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to go to the Superior Volunteer Fire Department.
