Description	:	Harlan Meyer, the son of Henry J. and Ola (DeMilt) Meyer, was born on his parents farm north of Superior, Nebraska on December 3, 1920. He passed away on October 13, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 10 days. Read More	Harlan Meyer, the son of Henry J. and Ola (DeMilt) Meyer, was born on his parents farm north of Superior, Nebraska on December 3, 1920. He passed away on October 13, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 10 days. Harlan was one of seven children, he attended Fairview Grade School south of Nelson, Nebraska and graduated from Nelson High School with the class of 1939. He was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Kathryn R. Bishop on April 2, 1942 in Phillipsburg, Kansas. To this union three children were born, Gregory, Craig and Misi. Harlan raised his family in Nelson and farmed. He was also employed by Superior Deshler Propane Company. He lived his life in the Nelson area. He was a member of the Nelson Volunteer Fire Department serving as Fire Chief for many years. One of his most treasured accomplishments was the wagon he built to haul his grandchildren, and neighbors children around, in which he pulled with a little tractor. He also enjoyed gardening, horses, woodworking, welding and going fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathryn on November 4, 1998; brothers Alfred and Ralph, sisters, Mildred Zimmerman, Marjorie Fisher and Norma Osborn; and son-in-law Steven Robinson. Harlan is survived by his two sons, Gregory Meyer and wife, Coleen of Lexington, Nebraska; and Craig Meyer, and wife Sheri of Grand Island, Nebraska, and daughter, Misi Robinson and friend Jim Moser of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 9 grandchildren: Shannon Ziebell and husband Kevin, Shane Meyer and wife Stephanie, Rylie Burch and husband Grant, Mandy Meyer, Matthew Meyer and wife Carrie, Stephanie Carrigan, Angie Heifner, Stacy Horst and husband Blake and Joshua Robinson and wife Rhonda; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Meyer and wife Esther of Superior, Nebraska, sisters-in-law, Vernoye Bargen of Superior, Nebraska and Mildred Bishop of Doniphan, Nebraska; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson with Rev. Dr. Stephen Berry officiating. Music was "Beyond The Sunset" with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist. Pallbearers were Joshua Robinson, Matthew Meyer, Shane Meyer, Kevin Ziebell, Blake Horst and Grant Burch. Honory Pallbearers were Donna Gillan, Randy Williams, Vic Bargen, Larry Zimmerman, Peggy Duey and Ron Bishop. Interment was in theNelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society for Bladder Cancer Research.
