Description	:	Doris Alice Scott, 96, of West Branch, Iowa, died Monday, August 6, 2012, at Crestview Care Center, West Branch, after a brief illness. She was born on December 22, 1915, in Tulare County, California, near Porterville, the daughter of Carl Harris and Lucille Adeline (Anderson) Fischer. After the death of her father from Spanish influenza in 1918, she moved back to Fairfield, Iowa, with her mother and sister, Thelma. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1933. Read More	Doris Alice Scott, 96, of West Branch, Iowa, died Monday, August 6, 2012, at Crestview Care Center, West Branch, after a brief illness. She was born on December 22, 1915, in Tulare County, California, near Porterville, the daughter of Carl Harris and Lucille Adeline (Anderson) Fischer. After the death of her father from Spanish influenza in 1918, she moved back to Fairfield, Iowa, with her mother and sister, Thelma. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1933. In 1937, she married high school sweetheart, G. Warren Scott. They resided in Fairfield, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Farm Bureau, and in Ottumwa, where she worked for Union Bank and Trust Co. In 1948, they joined Warren's brother, Charles (Dorothy) Scott, in the farm equipment business in Winfield, Iowa. In 1960, the farm equipment business evolved into a farm and home supply operation in Muscatine, Iowa City and Marion, and was renamed Fleetway Stores. She was an active participant in both the farm equipment and Fleetway operations. In 1997, Fleetway was sold and Warren and Doris relocated from Winfield to West Branch in 1999. Doris is survived by son, James (Alice) Scott of West Branch, Iowa, and their 4 children; her daughter, Julie Scott (partner James Fluck) of Iowa City; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Warren; her sister, Thelma; and several aunts and uncles. Besides her family, Doris' passions over the years were travel, the Iowa Hawkeyes, golf, crafting and stitchery, crosswords, movies (especially musicals), and Christmas. Graveside services are planned at Evergreen Cemetery
