Daughter of Jesse Elvin Marker and Lena Mae Killen OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, June 2, 1983 POLLITT Doris Arlene Pollitt was born August 30, 1937, near Norwood, Iowa to Lena and Jesse Marker. She passed away on May 24, 1983, at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 45 years. On November 8, 1956, she was united in marriage to Ralph Pollitt at the Norwood Assembly of God Church. Most of her life was spent on the family farm in Lucas County. To this union was born one daughter and two sons. They are Peggy Mitchell of Des Moines, Bradley of Kirksville, Missouri and Craig of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Robert Marker. At a young age she accepted Christ and remained faithful to her Lord. The power of prayer was very important in her life. She faithfully attended church services at the Norwood Assembly of God Church. Doris touched many lives with her caring ways. She was greatly loved by her family and will be sadly missed. She held a very special spot in the hearts of her brothers and sisters. Her church will also deeply feel the loss. She is survived by her husband, Ralph; daughter Peggy Mitchell and husband, Greg; sons Bradley and Craig. Also four brothers, Kenneth and wife Helen, Larry and wife Sherri of Woodburn, Jerry and wife Sunny and Homer and wife Sonya of Des Moines; four sisters, Vera Penick and husband Robert of Lucas, Marjorie Fleeman and husband Franklin of Columbia, Pat Schnoor and husband David and Francis Marker of Des Moines; her mother-in-law, Pauline Pollitt; a host of nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, May 27, 1983 at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa with Rev. Gladys Martin officiating. Interment was in the Norwood Cemetery.
