MARKER Homer Marker, 73, of Des Moines, died Monday, May 31, 2005 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Norwood Assembly of God Church. Homer was born July 28, 1931 in Norwood, Iowa and was raised there. He lived in Osceola while working at Clarke County Hospital for 10 years and then moved to Des Moines, where he worked for the City of Des Moines for 20 years. He was known as the "mower man" in Des Moines. After retiring he enjoyed buying and selling lawn mowers. He enjoyed visiting and working with people while working with the mowers. Homer was an Army Veteran, serving from 1953 to 1955. Homer is survived by his two sons, Dan Marker of Des Moines and Robert Marker of Popejoy; seven grandchildren; and siblings: Kenneth Marker of Indianola, Jerry Marker of Des Moines, Larry Marker of Osceola, Vera Penick of Indianola, Frances Marker of Des Moines, Marjorie Fleeman of Columbia, and Pat Schnoor of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lena Mae Killen Marker; a brother, John Marker, and a sister, Doris Pollitt.
