Description	:	Doris Virgalene Lance, 89, passed away Monday, October 2nd at her home. Doris was born to Samuel Osmon and Mabel Iola Ocker in Powhattan, Kansas. She had five brothers and three sisters, all of whom preceded her in death. In 1945, Doris met Orville Edward Lance and they began dating. They married on February 15, 1946 in Reno, Nevada. In September 1964 the couple moved to Grand Junction and purchased a home in which she continued to live for the past 53 years. Doris was born to Samuel Osmon and Mabel Iola Ocker in Powhattan, Kansas. She had five brothers and three sisters, all of whom preceded her in death. In 1945, Doris met Orville Edward Lance and they began dating. They married on February 15, 1946 in Reno, Nevada. In September 1964 the couple moved to Grand Junction and purchased a home in which she continued to live for the past 53 years. Doris and Orville had three children and were married 60 years until his passing in 2006. Doris was a homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress, always making clothes for herself and others. Another great joy in her life was gardening. Doris loved flowers, birds, and took great pride in creating and maintaining a beautiful front and backyard, including a pond that held fish for many years. She never wanted a fuss made over her or to be a bother to anyone. Of course to all who knew her, she was worthy of a fuss, and never a bother. Doris will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by son, Jimmy Joe (Estelle) Lance; daughter, Sheila (Jim) Bishop; grandchildren: Aubrey (Dan) Brinkworth, Dax (Brandy) Lance, Chaska Lance and Rhiannon (Donnie) Smith; great-grandchildren: Kayla and Brett Brinkworth, and Creed and Trajan Lance. She was preceded in death by a son, Orville Lee Lance. Following cremation, a private interment will be held in Hiawatha, Kansas at a later date.
