Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the St. Lawrence Community Church with Pastor Scot Tutt officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2013 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, all at Reck Funeral Home, Miller. Dorothy Marshall was born November 11, 1921 to James and Maude (Key) Carter. She grew up and attended school in St. Lawrence. Dorothy married Francis Marshall on May 8, 1946 in Pierre, SD. She then attending Wessington Springs College and became a teacher; teaching elementary school in Hand County for 41 years. During retirement, Dorothy and Francis enjoyed traveling. They belonged to a camper club and also spent several winters in Mesa, AZ. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting and other crafts and took winning entries to the State Fair for many years. Grateful to have shared in her life are two daughters, Sharon (Bob) Lunne of Dallas, SD and Karon (Merle) Stevens of Wessington Springs, SD; three grandchildren: John (Leslie) Stevens of Wessington Springs, SD, Shari (Jeff) Hannahs of Sioux Falls, SD and Duane Lunne of Dallas, SD; four great-grandchildren: Wyatt Stevens, Rylie Stevens, Brock Stevens, and Harley Dawn Hannahs; siblings: Leone Liebers of Ladysmith, WI, Lois Harris of Jonesville, NC, Jim Carter of Venice, FL, Rachel Rediger of Mesa, AZ, Roger (Aloa) Carter of McLeanville, NC, Dixie (Al) Young, Woodway, WA and Dale (Suzanne) Carter of Montrose, Co. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis; and three sisters: Virginia Carter, Viola Webber, and Evelyn Fanning.
