Description	:	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Mrs. Dorothy Tilley Jessup, 84, of Simmons Grove Church Road, Pilot Mountain, died Thursday morning, Sept. 18, 2003, at her home. She was born in Surry County on Aug. 23, 1919, to the late John Austin and Mary Frances Flippin Tilley. Mrs. Jessup was a homemaker, a farmer and a member of Jessup Grove Baptist Church. She had been employed at Good Health Services since 1994 and was voted as Surry County's Older Worker of the Year. Read More	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Mrs. Dorothy Tilley Jessup, 84, of Simmons Grove Church Road, Pilot Mountain, died Thursday morning, Sept. 18, 2003, at her home. She was born in Surry County on Aug. 23, 1919, to the late John Austin and Mary Frances Flippin Tilley. Mrs. Jessup was a homemaker, a farmer and a member of Jessup Grove Baptist Church. She had been employed at Good Health Services since 1994 and was voted as Surry County's Older Worker of the Year. Mrs. Jessup is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia Gilbert and husband Jim of Pilot Mountain and Charlotte Jackson and husband Robert of Shelby; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Jessup and wife Barbara of Conway, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Harman and Becky Gilbert, Tommy and Janette Gilbert, Mary and Rob Holley, Rick and Jenny Jackson, Lee Jackson, Amanda Jessup and Mark Jessup; six great-grandchildren, Brittany, Caitlin and Griffen Gilbert, Hunter Wetherell and Austin and Meagan Gilbert; and special friends Nell Rogers, Kathleen Green, Edna Stanley, Steve and Dee Wetherell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jessup was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wilson Jessup; a sister, Lillie Jessup; and a brother, Troy Tilley. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, in Jessup Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Roger Vaden and the Rev. Nelson Hodgkins. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Jessup will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today, Sept. 20, at Howell Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain. Memorial contributions may be made to Jessup Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 896 Jessup Grove Church Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041 or to Hospice of Surry County, 1326 N. Main St., Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family is being served by Howell Funeral Service of Pilot Mountain.
