John, age 87, of Council Bluffs, Iowa formerly of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Evelyn and Gertrude, brothers, Charles, James and Robert. Left to cherish her memory are her husband William John of Council Bluffs, Iowa; son: Larry John and wife Kathryn of Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughter: Nancy John of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister: Esther Nichols and husband Virgil of California; brother: Joe Mentzer and wife Marilyn of Missouri Valley, Iowa; grandchildren: Susan Strater, Debra Byers, Erin Trotter; great-grandchildren: Nicole Strater, Colton Strater, Meghan Strater, Jacob Byers, Jackson Byers, Paige Byers, Kamron Trotter, Eva Trotter, Jada Trotter. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Methodist Church in Missouri Valley following the committal service.
