He is survived by his wife, Alease Cawthorn Roane; two sons, Edward Clyde Roane and his wife, Patricia Davis Roane and their daughters, Gabrielle, Jenna and Jordan of West Point, Va., Richard Lee Roane and his wife, Peggy Colley Roane of Shacklefords, Va.; and a step granddaughter, Roxanne Haden and her husband, Michael and daughter, Kasey of Churchview, Va. He is also survived by two sisters, Lavinia R. Roane of Shacklefords, Va., and Clayton R. Robins of Gloucester, Va. Mr. Roane was predeceased by his son, Doswell Roane Jr.; and his sister, Roberta Roane Gayle. Doswell was a longtime member of Shacklefords Chapel United Methodist Church and a Trustee for many years. He served on the King & Queen County School Board for 16 years and retired from Chesapeake Corp. after 39 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Italian Campaign. His remains rest at the Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, Va., where his family will receive friends 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Vincent Funeral Home. Burial in Shackelfords Chapel Cemetery, Plain View, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
