| Description | : | Son of James A. Pierce & Martha Camiline Wilcox Pierce (1822-1851). Pierce enlisted at age 17 in the 13th Tenn Cavalry (U.S.A.) and was promoted to Sergeant in Co. G. After the war he studied medicine under Dr. M. Carriger at Morristown, TN for 2 yrs. He then practiced medicine in Union Co. TN & later Claibourne Co. TN through 1877. In 1877 he moved to Tate Springs, Grainger Co. TN and attended medical lectures at Vanderbilt Univ. in Nashville, TN. He continued to practice medicine in Grainger Co., TN until his death.
