Description	:	Eben T. Massey came to Colorado Springs from Kent County, Maryland in 1888 and operated a Dairy business there until 1897 when he moved to and bought a ranch in the Unaweep Canyon in Mesa County. He then moved back to Colorado Springs for a short time to straighten out some financial problems with the Dairy which he still partly owned, then after his return to Mesa County he was killed in a gun battle over water rights on the Uncompahgre Plateau in 1903. Massey occurred yesterday morning at 9:30. His only brother, R. (Robert) B. Massey, of Colorado Springs, his sisters, Miss Massey (Ellen S.) and Mrs. Cochran (Mary N.), both of Colorado Springs. Mrs. Berg (Burg) (Susan M.) of Una- weep and Mrs. George Hazel(l) (Virmadela A.) of this city were all present. His mother (Virmadela) and youngest sister (Henrietta E.) in Maryland were unable to reach this city in time. The services were conducted at the St. Mathews P.E. Church by Rev. C. W. G. Lyon. The remains were interred in the Orchard Mesa cemetery. Undertaker Gourley had charge of the funeral arrangements.
