Description	:	Edna Wilhelmina Witte, daughter of Fred A. and Elizabeth (Meyer) Witte was born at the family farm home south of Grafton on March 12, 1905, the youngest of nine children. She passed away on July 4, 2003, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 98 years, three months and 22 days. She was baptized April 9, 1905 and confirmed on September 12, 1919, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church south of Grafton, where she taught Sunday school and served as church organist for many years. Read More	Edna Wilhelmina Witte, daughter of Fred A. and Elizabeth (Meyer) Witte was born at the family farm home south of Grafton on March 12, 1905, the youngest of nine children. She passed away on July 4, 2003, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 98 years, three months and 22 days. She was baptized April 9, 1905 and confirmed on September 12, 1919, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church south of Grafton, where she taught Sunday school and served as church organist for many years. With the closing of St. Paul's in 1956, she and other members of the family joined Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley, where she remained a faithful member until her death. Edna attended Rural District No. 14, and later graduated from Grafton High School in 1922. She later attended York College for two years. She then began teaching at rural schools in her area for many years util she retired to the family farm home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elizabeth; brothers, Fred, Edwin and George Witte; and five sisters, Katie Lauenstein, Lorna Witte, Hulda Pearson, Marvel Bohlen and Mable Witte. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Edna wrote her own obituary and at its conclusion penned these words: "I have fond memories of life on the farm, my childhood, our parents home and friends. My church has been an important part of my life, and always has been there for me." Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2003 from the Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley with Rev. James Moll officiating. Stanley Johnson accompanied the congregational singing of "Nearer My God to Thee," "Rock of Ages" and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers were Stephen Rasmussen, Jerry Otte, John A. Greiss, Earl D. Frieden, Robert Anderson and Lester L. Schlegel. Interment was in the Grafton Public Cemetery.
