He was a retired farmer and machinist. Ed was one of 13 children born to George and Emma Troudt on October 16, 1897. He attended the Nelson Public School. February 2, 1921, he was married to Marie Porter at the Nelson Christian Parsonage. To this union five daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, 7 brothers, 4 sisters and a grandson. Survivors include his wife, Marie of Nelson; four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Uyvonne) Knehans, Mrs. Don (Muriel) Follmer, both of Nelson, Mrs. Geroge (sic) (Marlys) Jensen of Mankato, Kansas, and Mrs. Darrell (Donna) Jensen of Superior and their husbands and a son-in-law, John Oltman of Superior; 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Horn of Long Beach, California. Ed was saved as a young boy and later baptized and confirmed. He was a member of the Oak Community Church and had taught a Sunday School class most of his adult life He was a boys 4-H leader for years and served on the board of directors of the Child Evangelism of Nebraska for over 20 years. He had a talent for repairing things and loved working in his shop, which he did up to the day he died. Building miniature steam trains was his hobby and he had completed many. He tried to instill in his grandsons the knowledge of his trade. Ed and Marie enjoyed celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in February. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 6, at 3 p.m. from the Oak Community Church, with Rev. Tom Wolcott officiating. Pallbearers were Gary Follmer, Roger Knehans, Curtis Jensen, Jay Jensen, Mike Follmer and Dennis Follmer. Honorary pallbearers were Craig Follmer, Brent Jensen, Mark Follmer and Kevin Jensen. "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "One Day At A Time" was sung by Ruth and Ira Robbins, with Ivan Schafer as organist. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. The Klawitter Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of arrangements.
